According to Yanko Design, there are three stages to a modern offices' workflow.
1. Social: meeting, presenting, team working. Standing up with the laptop on a high desk.
2. Functional: Preparing, sitting at a desk with a laptop.
3. Casual: private, on the phone, taing notes, contemplating. Lying down with a laptop in use.

The "Inverted Cubicle" concept from Yanko Design does all three.
